God is working in many ways in and through our radiant church. I am so proud of the way so many of you are serving our Lord by using the gifts and talents you have to meet people’s needs. On Sunday, I visited a brand new Connect Group class led by Larry and Becky Lofton and Tom and Jan Cammack. They had 20 people from all over the world in the class! God is literally bringing the world to us. The class addresses the topic of what Christians believe and it also helps those present to better learn the English language.
There a few ministries that I want to highlight for you and ask that, as the Lord leads, you participate in supporting. Franklin Graham will lead in a time of prayer at the Capitol in downtown Austin at noon on Tuesday, April 26. Many of our people will be attending and let me invite you to join in. (I would be there, but I am preaching at Southwestern Seminary chapel that day.) Also, as God leads you, please pray for and support ministries like Open Doors, USA and Voice of the Martyrs. These two ministries do an excellent job of ministering to the persecuted church. When I was in Asia a couple of weeks ago, at least two of the nearly forty pastors in my class had suffered persecution for sharing the gospel. One was beaten by a radical Hindu and the other was incarcerated for seven days along with his family. Another ministry that is near and dear to my heart is Compassion International, a global ministry that helps rescue children from physical and spiritual poverty. On Sunday we will show a brief video highlighting this ministry. I am grateful to God for the opportunity to send $38 a month to help Victor in Peru. Many of you already sponsor a child and know the blessings that come from such an investment. And speaking of helping others, please place your change and dollar bills in the orange buckets in the worship center on Sunday for our monthly Change-Your-World Benevolence Offering. All of the money received goes to helping with benevolent needs of those in our church.
On Sunday, we will continue our study on the life of Joseph by looking into Genesis 37:17-36. Take some time to read this passage in preparation for the sermon on Sunday. Also, please help me with something. A few minutes before 11:00am I will ask any who would like to join me at the altar to come and pray as we begin our time of corporate worship. Please, please try to get into the worship center early and prepare your heart for worship. Connect Group teachers, please begin your class on time and dismiss no later than 10:45am so those in your class will have ample time to be in the worship center a few minutes before the service starts.
We had our largest ever new member class in February and already need to have another one! Thank You, Lord, for sending new members to our church family. If you know someone interested in joining our church, please encourage them to attend our church@greathills new member class this Sunday immediately following our worship service. Lunch and childcare are provided.
Church family, as you go through your everyday life please be sensitive to those around you who do not know Jesus and do not have a church home. Reach out to these people and invite them to join you for worship. As God opens the door, please share Jesus with those you meet! We have a large shipment of new tracts arriving soon that we want you to take. Also, I just discovered a new evangelism app that is fantastic; the free app is yesHEis. It is video-driven and done extremely well. There are testimonies by Bono, LeCrae, and others. Please download it to your smart phone and use it.
See you Sunday.
1 Peter 4:10 – “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”
