I praise the Lord Jesus for His radiant bride that gathers at 10500 Jollyville and then scatters throughout the world. As I sit here typing my article for this week, I think of many in our church who are doing a wonderful work of ministry–Cindy Asmussen at the capitol taking a stand for righteousness; Larry and Becky Lofton loving people from all over the world through Life Bridge (Chris Rowley’s wonderful ministry); Bud Bruner and his craftsmanship on so many projects at our church; James and Barbara Cross and their ministry with Radiant Friends as they serve those struggling with Alzheimer’s; newly-married Felix Daily and his sharing the Word of God at convalescent centers; Aaron Estes as he leads worship in our student ministry; Rick Zamora as he shares Christ with refugee families; Fred Eppright and his tireless efforts helping with our ground lease; Andy and Kathy Spencer as they prepare to go to Germany and India, respectively, on mission for Christ; and the list goes on and on! We are the church gathered on Sundays and Wednesdays, and the church scattered the rest of the time. This week a new believer/member said something very profound during my discipleship time with him. He told me how he reads Scripture not just for what he receives from it, but also how it can impact others. What a joy it is to be a part of a church that is making disciples who are dedicated followers of King Jesus!
On Sunday we will continue our study of Joseph with a sermon entitled “The Lord Was with Joseph,” from Genesis 39:1-6. I will share with you from the Scriptures four traits of a man or woman who has the favor of God. We will begin the worship time with the song “Holy Spirit” which will be followed by a time of corporate prayer at the altar. I wish today was Sunday! I am looking forward to what the Lord will do in us and then through us as we serve Him. Pray for our Connect Groups and our worship service, please.
I am sorry for all the technical difficulties we had on Sunday with our PA (public address) and AV (audio visual) systems. Our guys are working hard to make improvements, and I appreciate their efforts. We are soon going to replace our AV system in the worship center. Hopefully, we can soon replace our PA system as well. Thank you for giving to our Building Vision campaign as we raise money to pay off our debt and make improvements on our church campus. Having a campus our size, well, everything is more expensive. However we are committed to paying cash for these purchases and not borrowing money.
God blessed us with 14 new members on Sunday. This is in addition to the 40 who joined us two months back. I am grateful to God for how He is blessing our church as we grow by adding new members. On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8, we are going to dedicate 12 babies. Is that not great? Teresa Smith, our Preschool Director, tells me we are going to have to create a new room for all the new babies, and I think that is fantastic.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you Sunday. Take some time to reach out to those you come in contact with and invite them to join you for Bible study and worship at Great Hills, as we fulfill our mission to be a radiant church that shines the love of Jesus throughout the world.
