This Week @ Great Hills

April 4, 2014

Good, full, busy days here at GHBC.  God is working in and through our church and for this I am very grateful.  So many in our church are serving, giving, witnessing, loving, and ministering in Jesus’ name and I just want you to know how grateful I am for you.  Last Sunday, 22 people completed our new member class and united with our church family!  God continues to draw people to Himself and that is wonderful.  I met with four people this week who are ready to follow Jesus in believer’s baptism.

I wish you could have been at our Elevate Wednesday night student worship.  God used Daniel VanCleave and Corey Hatch in powerful ways as the Lord Jesus changed lives through the preaching of His Word.  Daniel is off to a great start and giving his all for the students here in Austin.  From middle school to high school through college, Daniel is working diligently to reach students.  Please pray for him and reach out to him to see if he needs any help.  God may be calling you to assist him in his vital ministry at Great Hills.

You simply do not want to miss this Sunday!  Charles Lowery will be preaching and he is one of the best speakers I know.  He brings such a great word of encouragement and uses humor so powerfully.  On Sunday morning he will preach on the subject “Success with Stress,” and Sunday night at 6:00 his topic is “Raising Champions in a Changing Culture.”  If you know someone who needs some help and encouragement on handling stress or if they are raising a family, do all you can to get them here so they can be greatly blessed by the ministry of Dr. Charles Lowery.  Just this week I listened to some of the messages he preached at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas and at the Premier Jewelry Conference, and again, he is so very good.

Tomorrow we will have lots happening on our campus.  Our deacons are leading out in a church workday and need assistance on various projects around the church.  Also, in the Atrium, we will have many buckets to pack and load.  If you show up around 9:00am, they will put you to work.  The buckets will go to Africa and will literally save people’s lives.  I will be there for some of the packing, and invite you to come join us.  Ken Farmer’s Bible Life class has done a wonderful job leading out in this ministry.  Thanks to Kurt Summers and all those who have helped!

Finally, I ask humbly and sincerely for your prayers as I preach through the Book of Revelation.  I am always in need of your prayers, but especially so when I preach from Revelation.  Sunday morning was another example of why I ask for your prayers and encouragement.  While I was greeting our people before the morning worship service I was confronted, rebuked and called a false prophet.  It was a pretty disturbing moment.  I really appreciate Pastor O’Chester praying for me and his words of encouragement.  God is working in our church and the enemy of our souls is not happy about it in the least.  But we do not fear, for Jesus is greater!

See you Sunday for a great day of worship and hearing Dr. Lowery preach.
