This Week @ Great Hills

August 18, 2017

Our 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting emphasis is going fantastic.  Thank you to all who continue to join in and pray and fast for our church, our new church plant, and for our nation. Our Tuesday noon prayer meetings are very well attended and that hour goes by so quickly.  We have four more, so put it on your calendars and join us each Tuesday in the worship center.  We will close the 40 Days with an around-the-clock confession of sin and Scripture reading beginning September 11.  Daniel VanCleave and our deacons will be leading out, so please sign up for an hour when the opportunity comes for you to do so.  We will be asking all our staff and deacons to sign up first and lead the way.  I believe those who participate in the personal confession of sin, renewal, and Bible reading will be greatly blessed and changed!

As I finished typing my sermon for Sunday, I had this impression that God is going to do some major things in your heart and mine, and move us to another level in our service and devotion to Him.  Our text is Nehemiah 11 and the title of the message is “Unsung Heroes.”  As the children of Israel willingly offered their service to the LORD and for the community of faith, I will be asking you to do the same.

I came across this prayer guide in Dutch Sheets’ book, Intercessory Prayer (p. 274-275).  Please print this off and lift me up in prayer for these requests:

  • Sunday: Favor with God (spiritual revelation, anointing, holiness)
  • Monday: Favor with Others (congregations, ministry staff, unsaved)
  • Tuesday: Increased vision (wisdom and enlightenment, motives, guidance)
  • Wednesday: Spirit, Soul, Body (health, appearance, attitudes, spiritual and physical wholeness)
  • Thursday: Protection (temptation, deception, enemies)
  • Friday: Finances (priorities, blessings)
  • Saturday: Family (general, spouse, children)

As God moves upon our church during this time of prayer and fasting, I believe He will prompt many of you to get involved and serve in the church.  Here are a couple of areas I would like to highlight for you.  Terry Hurt is asking for new people to join the worship ministry–especially our choir.  You may say you can’t sing that great, but that does not matter!  What matters is whether God is telling you to join the choir!  So sign up and show up on Wednesday evenings for rehearsal and lead us on Sundays! Ross Hartsfield still needs many people to help with our First Impressions Ministry.  You may be a little more of an introvert but that does not matter if God is telling you to help!  Just contact Ross and tell him to sign you up wherever you are needed, be it the parking lot, on a golf cart, standing at a door, or just walking around looking for people to serve.  Seriously church family, I need your help with these two ministries–especially some of you guys and gals who are 40 years old and younger.

Ashley and I will see many of you at the pool party at Milburn Park in Cedar Park tomorrow afternoon. Looking forward to the fellowship, and especially anticipating seeing you Sunday as we study the Word, welcome our many guests, and worship the King.
