Ashley, our children, and I are enjoying a few days of vacation before Bryant and Leighton head back to college. God has blessed me with a wonderful wife and children, and I am very grateful. It has been nice having the boys home for the summer.
Many of you have children going back to school, or perhaps you are going back or work in some way in education. On Sunday, I will ask all those involved in education to please stand and we will pray a prayer of blessing and protection over you.
God has blessed us with a great summer of ministry at GHBC. I am looking forward to the fall as we have many ministries and events planned to help you reach out to others and grow in your relationship with Jesus. Many of these opportunities will occur on Wednesday evenings. Please check out the different scheduled classes and events either by scrolling down or looking on our website. If you have any questions, feel free to call our church office.
This Sunday I am preaching a message entitled “In the Church” from Ephesians 3:20-21. I am looking forward to sharing this message with you as I have been working on it now for weeks. I will share more information about our Building Vision Campaign and our goal of raising $5 million over the next five years. Also, we will show you a couple of architectural renderings of our new entry to Building C and the coffee shop.
Next week I will be traveling with three other Great Hills members to South Asia to serve among the people group God has called and commissioned us to reach. Of all the things that God has allowed me to do in 30 years of ministry, nothing has been more exciting than seeing God use GHBC to literally touch an Unengaged Unreached People Group (UUPG) with the good news of Jesus and His love! God is working among our people, and our goal is to travel to see some of the very first Christians from this UUPG group follow Jesus in believer’s baptism!
By God’s favor upon us, He is empowering us to be a radiant church that is touching the world with the Gospel. As our light shines around the world, I am noticing how brightly it is shining in our city of Austin. Our church is more unified and focused than I have ever seen, and God is blessing us with many guests and new members. Let us keep worshiping Jesus with passion, making disciples, and telling the lost about the Savior. Keep on praying, caring, sharing, and celebrating all the wonderful things God is doing in and though us.
