This Week @ Great Hills

December 23, 2014

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our GHBC family!  I wanted to send our newsletter early this week to wish you a Merry Christmas and invite you to our annual Christmas Eve candlelight service tomorrow night at 5:00pm.  We will sing Christmas carols and have a special message for all our children followed by a brief message I will share on the “Songs of Christmas.”  The service will only last about 40 minutes, so please come and invite someone to join you.  I believe many will come if you invite them!

On Sunday, Pastor O’Chester will preach a message entitled “One Moment in Time” from Luke 1:26-28.  I know you will be blessed to hear his message, as he is an excellent preacher of the Word of God.  Preacher and Barbara continue to bless and encourage the GHBC family and me.  (Thank you again, Barbara, for the coconut pound cake. Between our staff and my family, we devoured it!)  Ashley and I will be in Alabama on Sunday visiting her family for the holidays, but please be sure to come to Great Hills and invite someone to come with you to worship our awesome God.

Thank you for your faithful financial gifts for the Lord’s work here at GHBC.  All gifts turned into the church office by midnight, December 31, are tax deductible for 2014.  We are receiving our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for international missions throughout the month of December. Let me encourage you to give a generous gift to help bless our 4,000+ Southern Baptist missionaries who are sharing Jesus and meeting needs all over the world.  And one more matter related to giving—Sunday is our Change-Your-World offering for local benevolence.  Please bring some change and dollar bills and place them in the orange buckets at the entrances to the worship center.  We are able to help many of our own church members with these monthly offerings.

I am so grateful to God for our radiant church and for how He continues to bless and empower us for kingdom work.  I am praying that 2015 will be a banner year for our church where God does the miraculous in and through us.
