Sunday will be a special day for our church family. We are having our Missions Sunday service where we get to hear from those who went out from GHBC to minister locally, nationally, and internationally. It is one of the highlights of the year. Terry will lead us in worship and Mike will conduct interviews with some of those who made these trips. I will close the service with a brief challenge to our church family.
Recently I received a letter from Tom Eliff, president of the International Mission Board (IMB), in which he shared that if we as a denomination continue at our current giving, there will be over 800 people ready to go overseas and serve as missionaries, but they will not be able to go due to the lack of financial resources. This broke my heart. For this reason, Ashley and I will personally give more than we ever have to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO) for missions. Also, we are raising our church’s goal from $50,000 to $100,000. Even though so many of you gave sacrificially to the Harvest Sunday Offering, we are still around $80,000 behind on our budget giving. However, I feel such a peace in doubling our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, and I will trust God regarding our budget shortage. Thank you for being a generous church family!
Sunday night at 6:00 our worship ministry will present A Great Hills Christmas. Our worship choir, band, orchestra, and children’s choirs will be leading us. It will be a fantastic time of worshipping our Lord through Christmas music. I encourage you to come and to invite someone to come with you. I appreciate our worship and media ministry and all the many hours of rehearsal they have put into making this Sunday evening a special time for us to enjoy.
There are some potentially bad weather days approaching us, so please be careful out on the roads. Hopefully, it will be just cold with no sleet on Sunday morning as we come together for this special day of worship.
