This week Ashley and I got to see our sons in Dallas, and we had a blessed time. On Wednesday Leighton helped lead worship at Dallas Baptist University chapel and we were able to hear my good friend Dr. Mark Howell preach in chapel. That afternoon we visited with Bryant and saw his new office. He was recently asked to be the Minister to Junior High Students at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. We are proud of our sons and so grateful to God that they are walking with Him and serving Him. Hannah and Jeffrey are doing great serving the Lord in San Antonio. I ask that you please continue to pray for Ashley and me and our family. It means the world to us to know that you pray for us.
On Sunday I will share a message entitled “Perfect in One.” Our text is John 17:20-23. After the message our deacons will serve the Lord’s Supper. Please take some time this weekend to pray and prepare your heart for this sacred time of worshipping our Lord by remembering both His death on the cross for our sins and His bodily resurrection. After our morning worship service we will have a business meeting to vote on changing the name of our church to Radiant Church Austin. The vote will be by ballot. As I shared last week, if the church decides to make this change, we will not implement the name change until August 27. This gives us time to make the numerous changes that are involved in a church name-change including new signs, marketing, branding, website, and many other matters that warrant our attention. If you are a member of GHBC I encourage you to come and cast your vote. I believe it will be a wonderful step in the right direction as we seek as a church to reach more people with the gospel.
Next weekend I am sending you an email from my non-profit ministry, Danny Forshee Evangelistic Association. It will be an invitation for you to subscribe to my weekly newsletter that will include information about my weekly podcast entitled Revangelical: Rethinking Christian Living. I hope you will subscribe to the free podcast and share it with others. Use it as another tool to help reach people for Christ and invite them to our church.
Please pray for me as I continue to train for my “Run for the Refugees” in the Austin Marathon on February 19. If you would like to sponsor me, you can give through our church and just indicate it is for Pastor’s Run for the Refugees or you can go to my website and make a donation at http://dfea.com/component/jdonation/?view. The monies raised will go to serving many Iraqi and Syrian refugees in Europe.
Ashley and I love our church. We are blessed to serve you here in this great city for such a time as this.
