This Week @ Great Hills

February 14, 2014

I hope this newsletter finds you doing well and thawing out from the cold wintry weather.  It is good to be back home from our trip to India.  I’m so grateful to God for all that He did on this mission trip and all that He is doing.  In all my years of ministry I have never been a part of something so important as our church reaching out to an unengaged, unreached people group.  Thank you for your love for our Lord Jesus and your commitment to take the gospel to those here in the city of Austin and to those half-way around the world.  I am blessed to serve as your pastor.

God is working powerfully in and through our church and we have many neat things happening and upcoming.  On Sunday morning we will be blessed to hear the Baylor Religious Hour Choir.  They will lead us in worship and then I will preach a message from Revelation 1:7-8 entitled “Alpha and Omega.”  The following Sunday, February 23, we will have many guests from the International Mission Board join us for Bible Life and Worship.  On Wednesday evening, February 26, we will host the IMB Missionary Appointment Service where 40 people will be commissioned to serve as career missionaries.  This will be an amazing evening.  Our worship team will lead us in worship and Dr. Tom Eliff, IMB president, will preach.  Please make a strong effort to attend.  The following Sunday, March 2, is our “All In” high attendance day where we are having a little friendly competition among our Bible Life classes.  At the close of the service we will award the winning class and then we will all enjoy a fun time of fellowship and lunch.  Please bring one dessert; our meal and drinks will be provided free of charge!

Our Buckets of Hope project is underway.  Our goal is to pack 250 buckets and send them to Africa to those who are suffering from AIDS and HIV.  Please prayerfully consider making a monetary donation to this project.  Also, please note that today, February 14, is the deadline to register your children (3rd grade completed−6th grade) for Radiant Kids Camp this summer.  Registration is available online.  Please contact Laura Clontz with any questions you may have.

We are continuing our systematic theology study on Thursday mornings at 6:45; I am so grateful to all who watch online and to those who come and participate.  God is deepening our love for Him and His Word as we shine inwardly as a radiant church.  I am so thankful for the ways God is growing His church here at Great Hills.  It is neat to see the new faces God is sending to our church family.  I encourage all our members to please keep being faithful in giving your tithes and offerings.  We simply cannot do all we need to do without your consistent, sacrificial giving.

Have a blessed Valentine’s Day and see you Sunday.
