God continues to pour out His favor upon our church. We had seven more people give their lives to Christ on Sunday! Jesus commanded us in the Great Commission to go and make disciples, baptize, and teach them (Matthew 28:19-20). I am grateful for our church being a missional church that takes making disciples most seriously.
Around a dozen people came Monday night for the Warriors on the Wall prayer meeting. I have heard wonderful reports of how they prayed for our church and worshipped the Lord for over an hour and thirty minutes. There is always a direct correlation between prayer and the favor of God. God is blessing GHBC with revival and I attribute this first and foremost to the people of God bombarding heaven with intercessory prayer.
We had about 50 people attend our new member class last Sunday, and most of them committed to joining our fellowship. Amazing. God continues to bring people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds. I am discipling one of our new members who recently was baptized and joined our church. He loves the Lord, is excited about his new church home, and brags on his church family!
Good Friday and Easter are only a few weeks away. This year on Good Friday (March 25) we will participate with other Austin churches and have a joint worship service at the Erwin Center at 6:00pm. We will hear from many of the pastors in the city and observe the Lord’s Supper. Michael W. Smith will close the evening with a concert. It will be a wonderful night of worship. There is no cost except for parking. Help us get the word out and come participate with us. Our staff has been hard at work planning for our Easter Sunday activities on March 27. Most of the Connect Group classes will be helping as we anticipate a huge gathering of people on our campus on this special day. We will have a massive Easter Egg hunt at 10:00am. We have arranged for a helicopter to drop 20,000 eggs on our campus. There will be two hunts—one for the preschoolers followed by one for the elementary-age kids. We will then bring everyone into church where we will serve a free breakfast before beginning our worship service. Will this be different and a change of pace for us? Absolutely. Why in the world would we do something like this? We want to reach as many people as we can with the gospel of Jesus and this will provide an avenue for doing it. Please pray for this event, and help get the word out by inviting your unchurched neighbors and friends to bring their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. If you have questions or want to help, please contact Ross Hartsfield or Stu Smithson.
On Sunday I will be preaching from 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 as we continue our sermon series HELP! We will look at the topic of taking care of our physical bodies. This will be a very grace-based, encouraging and practical sermon, and I look forward to sharing what God has placed on my heart.
For Change Your World Sunday, let us do something a bit differently. Everyone who can, please bring a $5 bill and place it in the orange buckets as we collect money to help our GHBC family with various benevolence needs.
The wind of God’s Spirit is blowing across our church and we are setting our sails as best we can. See you Sunday.
