God blessed us in wonderful ways at the IMB missionary commissioning service on Wednesday night. What a special sight to behold these men and women who have accepted the call of God on their lives to be totally His. Thank you, worship ministry, for leading us in worship. And thank you to all who made the IMB feel so welcome. Many told me what a great job you guys did in being such a gracious host for the IMB trustees meeting and the commissioning service.
“All In,” our high attendance day, is this Sunday, March 2. We are going to have a great day. Our Bible Life classes are having a little friendly competition, and the winning class will be awarded a nice prize at the conclusion of the worship service. Following the service we will have a free lunch and enjoy a time of fellowship. Each family is asked to bring a “finger food” dessert such as cookies and brownies. Cindy West and her team of great volunteers have spent so much time planning this event, and I appreciate all their hard work. Please plan on coming and bringing someone with you to Bible Life, worship, and then lunch.
This weekend we are looking forward to hosting our new prospective student pastor, Daniel VanCleave, along with his wife, Cherie, and their three children. We have set aside Saturday, March 2, at 2:00 pm in the Student Lounge Building A, as the time for students, 7th grade – college, to come meet the VanCleaves. If anyone else would like to come by and meet the VanCleaves, please feel free to do so.
On Tuesday night, March 4, our team that recently went to south Asia and served among our UUPG will be giving a presentation at 7:00 pm in room C 247-248. We invite you to come learn more about how God is using GHBC to reach an entire people group. Being a part of this ministry is the most exciting thing I have ever participated in as a minister of the Gospel.
We are still receiving donations for our Buckets of Hope project. For $85 we can create a care package for those suffering in Africa from HIV and AIDS. We have a display table in the Great Hall which I encourage you to check out and, as God leads you, to please help us in this worthy mission project by making a monetary contribution.
Many of our people have gone through the Reproducing Disciples ministry taught by Fred and Melissa Campbell and I am hearing great reports. Ashley and I will go through the training tonight and Saturday. We are excited about how God is raising up many in our church who will help make disciples who will make more disciples of Jesus Christ.
See you Sunday as we study Revelation 1:12-20 in a message entitled “Unmistakable.” To say I am excited about preaching on this text is a huge understatement.
Have a blessed weekend.
