Lauren Daigle is one of my favorite Christian artists. As I sit here typing this article, I am listening to her new song, “Come Alive.”
But we know that you are God
Yours is the victory
We know there is more to come
That we may not yet see
So with the faith you’ve given us
We’ll step into the valley unafraid, yeah
As we call out to dry bones
Come alive, come alive
We call out to dead hearts
Come alive, come alive
Up out of the ashes
Let us see an army rise
We call out to dry bones, come alive.
I am grateful to God for His working in the lives of so many of our people. At our Proverbs Men’s Group Thursday morning, one of our guys put it well when he simply said, “I just love my church family.” Thank You, LORD, for pouring out Your favor and allowing us to see You change lives.
We will continue our study on the Book of Nehemiah on Sunday. Our text is Nehemiah 2:6-10, and the title of the sermon is “The Good Hand of God.” God moved upon the heart of the King of Persia in order to grant Nehemiah’s request to return to Jerusalem. Come join us for worship as I believe God is going to speak powerfully and bless all who come. Also, on Sunday our Connect Groups are kicking off the Family February emphasis and will be wearing the jerseys or colors of their favorite football team. We will have a variety of teams represented. I will wear an Auburn shirt and my wife will don an Alabama Crimson Tide shirt (I am praying for her).
Let me ask you to please pray about and consider serving during our worship service in our Preschool Ministry. Teresa Smith, our Preschool Director, is in need of many adult volunteers. You have to be a member of our church and also be screened before you can serve. Please help us out. Speaking of membership, this Sunday I will teach the New Member class at 9:30 in Building A, room 125. If you know someone interested in joining our church, invite them to come.
We will have a special called business meeting to vote on the name change on February 12 after the morning worship service. Our goal is to make the change on August 27, but we have much work to do before then and need to go ahead with the vote of approval so we can proceed with preparations. After talking about this name change for many months and having our Town Hall meeting last fall, we are ready to move ahead with the vote. We will use a secret ballot and only members of the church will be allowed to vote.
Finally, I ask for your continued prayers for me. God is at work and so is the enemy of our souls. The devil is not omniscient, but he knows that Jesus is doing a great work at GHBC and the best is yet to come. Hell has no fury like that against a radiant church making disciples and reaching the nations with the gospel of Jesus.
