This Week @ Great Hills

February 7, 2014

Our team should arrive from India back to Austin tonight.  Thank you for your prayers for us as we have served the Lord and labored among our UUPG.  On Thursday there was an amazing breakthrough in the process of our reaching our UUPG and we are very grateful to God.  I will share more details with you on Sunday.

It is always a great blessing to be able to go overseas and serve on a short-term mission trip, and it is always a blessing to get back home to see my family and church family.  I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we continue our series on the book of Revelation.  Our text is Revelation 1:4-6 with a message entitled “Grace and Peace.”  Also on Sunday we will observe the Lord’s Supper which is always a very special time of worship.

This weekend at Great Hills we have some important ministry events. Tonight and tomorrow we are having our second of four training opportunities for the Reproducing Disciples ministry led by Fred and Melissa Campbell.  This ministry teaches you how to share Christ and then disciple those who have accepted Jesus, so they can go and make disciples of others.  It is an exciting and enlightening ministry opportunity for you and I hope you are able to attend one of these trainings.  You will be blessed by what you learn as Fred and Melissa do an excellent job of training.  Also, tomorrow we are having our Widows Valentines Tea.  What a special opportunity for us as church to reach out and bless our widows.  I appreciate Judy Stone and all who help serve in this ministry.

Sunday, March 2, is going to be a great day.  On this day we are having a friendly competition among our Bible Life classes.  The winning class will be treated to a special surprise.  Lynn and Cindy West and others are helping put this together and it will be great.  After the morning worship service we will enjoy a church-wide lunch and get this–it will be free!  A generous church member is paying for lunch that day.  If you have questions, our Education Pastor, Ross Hartsfield, can answer them.  Ross continues to do a great job in leading our education ministry.  We are continuing to grow as we reach people and teach them the Scriptures.  What a blessing that is.

Thank you for your faithfulness to Christ and how you bless your church.  We are making noticeable strides in our passion to be a radiant church that worships Jesus, teaches the Scriptures, and makes disciples who will make more disciples. Thank you for all the prayer and encouragement you give to me as your pastor.  I love our church and I’m grateful that God has led me here to serve Him and you.
