It is always good to get away for a break and always good to be back home. Ashley, the kids, and I had a very nice holiday season with the highlight being Hannah getting engaged to Jeffry Samplaski on Christmas Eve. We are grateful to God for His work in their lives, and now we are gearing up to plan a summer wedding. Thank you for praying for us while we visited Ashley’s family in Richmond, Virginia. Speaking of family, Bryant left Tuesday evening to move to Plano, Texas, to intern at Prestonwood Baptist Church where he will be working with middle school students. He also will be attending Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. We are proud of him and praying that God uses him powerfully in the ministry. In a couple of weeks Leighton will start back at Dallas Baptist University. He is doing great in school and we are proud of him as well. Ashley is feeling much better. We both are so grateful to God for His favor upon our family.
On Sunday I will share my annual State of the Church message. The primary text for the sermon is 1 Corinthians 3:5-9. God worked miracles through your generous giving and I look forward to sharing with you how we ended 2015. I will also share with you some of the ministry highlights we experienced as a church in 2015, how things are going in the life of GHBC, and what our plans are for 2016. God has given us clear marching orders in His Word, and I am praying daily that God helps us become a radiant church that makes disciples, who in turn go and make more disciples until Jesus comes again.
As I look over the announcements below, I am encouraged by the many ministries and events we have planned in the near future. Take a moment to read these announcements and participate in as many of the events as you can.
I am grateful to God for you and your love for the Lord Jesus and GHBC. May 2016 be a wonderful year for you and your family, and for our church family.
