This Week @ Great Hills

July 22, 2016

What is God telling you as you walk daily with Him?  God loves His children and loves to speak to us and give direction for our lives.  The most important part of my day is first thing in the morning when I read God’s Word and talk to Him in prayer.  My son Leighton and I were talking about daily devotions this week and the importance of having quiet times with the Lord in the morning before the day gets going.  A benefit of meeting with God in the mornings is that it sets the course for the day; the message God speaks to us in His Word gives us guidance and inspiration throughout the day.  So many of our people at Great Hills make it a daily habit to spend time with God in Bible-reading and prayer.  Let me encourage you to keep it up and, as you pray, remember to pray for our church family.

This week I have been preparing for a new sermon series entitled CROSSFIT which I will preach in the fall.  We will examine the life of Jesus and how He calls us to follow Him.  One of our core values as a radiant church is to shine brightly for Jesus through sharing our faith and going on mission with Him.  I pray that God uses me as His vessel to encourage and inspire you to point people to Jesus each day and to help new believers grow in their faith.

I am looking forward to worshipping the Lord with you on Sunday and to preaching a message entitled “Grace, Grace” based on Genesis 43:15-24.  We are learning so much from the life of Joseph.  We will witness firsthand how Joseph has the spiritual fortitude to extend grace to the very brothers who betrayed him and sold him into slavery.  As God had extended grace to Joseph, Joseph does the same for his brothers.  Please take some time this weekend to read over our text and pray that God would speak and move in powerful ways as we gather together to worship Him.

I am pleased to share with you that we have hired Sharon Irwin as our new Children’s Director.  Sharon has done a fantastic job serving as our interim director.  Take a moment when you see Sharon to let her know how grateful you are for her and her ministry.  Thank you to all those who work in our Children’s Ministry.  God is using you to bless and shape the lives of our children to become champions for our Lord.

May the Lord bless you with a wonderful weekend.  Thank you again for your faithfulness in your service and giving to our church as we minister here in Austin and literally all over the world.  I love our church family and I am blessed to serve as your pastor.  Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement you give to me.

See you Sunday as we continue our study of Joseph.
