This Week @ Great Hills

July 4, 2014

Last Sunday was one of the best Sundays that I have seen in my four years as pastor at Great Hills. Our VBS children did a fantastic job leading us in worship. The kids’ choir and the drama team were absolutely amazing. A small army of volunteers made the Agency D3 VBS 2014 the best I have ever been a part of. So many people worked behind the scenes. Our drama team held up a thank-you sign to Laura Bruner at the close of their presentation, as she was unable to be here to watch the kids. Again, there are so many who helped; I cannot thank you enough.

I hope you have a blessed July 4th with family and friends as you celebrate our nation’s birthday and all the freedoms God has given to us. The recent Supreme Court ruling on the Hobby Lobby case is a huge win for proponents of religious freedom. We are such a blessed nation because God has showered His favor upon us from our very inception. Were they alive today, great patriots like George Washington would quickly declare how only Almighty God saved this nation in the Revolutionary War, and only God has caused us to prosper as we have.

We will have a great day in the Lord this Sunday. We have been blessed to baptize someone every week over the last few months. This Sunday we will baptize more who have committed their lives to Christ. I will share the second of a three-part message based on Revelation 3:7-13 on the faithful and persevering church at Philadelphia.

Thank you for your continued faithfulness to God and your commitment to the spiritual and financial health of GHBC. Please continue to show up, serve, give, and use your spiritual gifts and talents for the glory of God and the edification of our church family.

Finally, please join me in saying thank you to Terry and Debbie Hurt on their four-year anniversary of serving at GHBC. I continue to rejoice in the work God has done and is doing through Terry, our worship pastor, as he leads us to worship Jesus with passion not only on Sundays, but also, and more importantly, in our everyday lives. We love you, Terry and Debbie, and praise God that He led you to serve with us.

See you Sunday.
