Thank you for your prayers for our family as we vacationed in Alabama last week with our extended families. God blessed us with a nice and relaxing time, and I literally ate seafood every single night! It is always nice to get away, but also good to be back home.
Our Executive and Worship Pastor, Terry Hurt, had major neck surgery on Tuesday, and he is now healing and resting at home. God truly blessed the surgery. Continue to pray for Terry to have a smooth, effective rehab and healing. It was an interesting week with so many of our people in the hospital and others undergoing various treatments. Your staff has been busy visiting and serving many, and it is our privilege to do so. I appreciate how Jane Groves does such a thorough job of keeping us up-to-date as to the status of our members when they are undergoing various treatments and hospitalizations. One of the blessings of being a member of our church is that someone will be praying for you and visiting you if you are ever hospitalized.
Last Sunday was a special day for our church. Thank you to Daniel VanCleave and all our student ministry staff and volunteers for a wonderful Graduation Recognition Sunday. I was able to watch some of the service through live streaming. God has blessed us with a talented group of graduates, and I am praying that God would continue His hand of favor and blessing upon their lives.
On Sunday we will continue our study in the book of Nehemiah. Take some time this weekend to read over Nehemiah 6 as I will be preaching a message entitled “Keeping at the Task.” Also we will observe believers baptism this Sunday. In addition, I will be teaching the new member class at 9:30am Sunday. If you know of someone interested in exploring membership at GHBC, invite them to join me in Building A, Room 125.
Thank you for praying for our VBS which begins June 12. We have already surpassed our enrollment from last year. We will have hundreds of children on our campus and we are praying for God to work in wonderful ways during our VBS June 12-16. We still need more volunteers to help, so if you have some time to minister to children, please contact our Children’s Director Sharon Irwin.
Have a blessed weekend.
