This-Week-At-Great-Hills

God has richly blessed our 2016 VBS.  We have had hundreds of people on our campus this week and such a sweet spirit among all our volunteers.  Thank you to all who have served in our Submerged VBS.  A special thank-you to Teresa Smith, Sharon Irwin, and Teal Neighbors for your tireless efforts. On Sunday, the kids will lead out in worship and will share with us what they have learned during the week.  I will share a brief gospel message and then everyone is invited to join us for lunch in the Atrium.  Following lunch we will have games and activities for the kids to enjoy outside.  Take some time to rejoice with me over the many ways God has poured out His favor on our church this week.  And be sure to reach out and invite others to join you for worship on Sunday, especially young families with children.  We will have a great opportunity to welcome many guests and love on them in Jesus’ name.

I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be among the 1,000 Evangelicals in NYC this week to meet Presidential hopeful Donald Trump.  I took many notes and learned a great deal.  If you are interested in reading my notes and some conclusions I have made regarding Trump and his candidacy, please e-mail Kathy Jones at kjones@ghbc.org to receive a copy.  While in NYC, Andy Spencer and I were able to worship at the Brooklyn Tabernacle which was a wonderful and worshipful experience.  We were also able to meet with our new SBC President Steve Gaines and hear him preach at Carnegie Hall.  The Bellevue Baptist Church Choir and Orchestra along with Natalie Grant gave a powerful concert.  Dr. Gaines will preach at GHBC in November, and I look forward to having him come.

God is so good to us here at GHBC.  Our church continues to radiate the love of Jesus to Austin and to the uttermost parts of the world.  On Sunday we will commission another mission team heading to Boston.  Thank you for your continued prayers, ministry, service, and financial support of our church.  We are closing in on our goal of $1.2 million for Phase 1 of Building Vision.  We need $150,000 to reach our goal!  Plans are coming along nicely for our new coffee shop and relocation of our library.  Thank you again for your continued faithfulness in giving your tithes and offerings for the work of the gospel in and through GHBC.  (Also, please contribute to our monthly Change-Your-World offering for benevolent needs for our church members.  Drop your loose change and dollar bills in one of the orange receptacles in the Worship Center this Sunday.)

Finally, we are just over a week away from Hannah and Jeffrey’s wedding.  Please know that you are invited to attend the wedding July 2 at 2:00 pm in the Worship Center.  If you are coming, please RSVP to Kathy Jones at kjones@ghbc.org so we can prepare for you to join us for the reception.  Many have joked with me that I will get very emotional and they are absolutely correct!  I know I will cry, but they will be tears of joy as I am so proud of Hannah and Jeffrey and excited for them as they begin their life together.

Have a blessed weekend.  See you Sunday for what will be a fun day as we celebrate all the great things God did in our 2016 VBS.
