Sunday will be an exciting day for us as we worship the Lord and also give God praise for our nation. Rear Admiral Endel Lee will bring the message from Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” His wife, Kathy Lee, will sing before he preaches. Our worship ministry has been preparing some special patriotic tunes that will inspire us all. During the service we will also recognize all military service members as well as first responders. It is will be a great day. Let me encourage you to come and be sure and invite someone to join you.
In the fall GHBC will plant a new church called Cornerstone Community Church. Our Young Adult pastor, Stu Smithson, will be the lead pastor and around thirty of our faithful members will be going with him to plant this new church in the Leander / Cedar Park area. This is not an extension or a satellite campus; this will be an autonomous Southern Baptist church. I am very excited about this church plant and believe God is calling us to step out on faith and do this. We will need many in our church to step up and take on new leadership roles to take the place of those who will be leaving. I am trusting God to bless both us as the sending church and Cornerstone as our daughter church.
Beginning August 8 and continuing through September 17 we will be observing forty days of prayer and fasting. We will share more details in the upcoming weeks. This will be a wonderful time of calling our church to a season of concerted and focused prayer as we seek the Lord for His favor and power upon us and our new church plant.
I am grateful for how God is blessing us this summer. We had a wonderful VBS, new people are joining our church, and our attendance has been good. But we have really fallen behind in our giving to budget. Please remember to support your church home during these days of summer and vacations. Also, please give faithfully to our Missions and Building Vision. Our Missions offerings enable us to support numerous local, national, and international ministries. And our Building Vision allows us to take care of our church campus. In a campus our size you can imagine how expensive it is just to keep up with and repair what we have. Currently we have raised just over $128,000 of our $1 million goal. Most of these monies will go toward replacing our HVAC system which includes our Air Conditioning. Thank you for allowing me to bring these urgent financial needs to your attention.
Have a great weekend. Sunday will be a memorable day of worship and celebrating the USA.
