God blessed our church last Sunday; I appreciate Daniel preaching and Corey leading in worship. It was a meaningful time, especially for our graduates. Ashley and I were able to watch the service online, and it was excellent. I am so grateful to God for all the ways He continues to bless our church. Lives are being changed for eternity, marriages are being strengthened, and many of our people are going out on mission with Jesus both in Austin and all over the world. Many of you are going on mission trips this summer, and we will have the privilege to commission you, pray over you and send you out.
Our VBS is June 23-27 and we are anticipating another great year. The theme this year is Agency D3: Discover, Decide, Defend. We have our leadership in place, but we really need volunteers to help in many areas. Please pray and ask God where He wants you to serve as we reach out to hundreds of children in our city. On Sunday, June 29, we will have a celebration service where the children will help lead in worship. We will have many unchurched guests who will come to watch their children sing the songs they learned during VBS. After the service we will have a great time of games and food.
This Sunday we will study Revelation 3:1-6, the church at Sardis. I am looking forward to preaching the message God has given me about this fifth out of seven churches in Revelation 2-3. As we study these seven literal, historical churches of Asia Minor, it amazes me how pertinent and powerful Jesus’ words are for the church today. Thank you for praying for me as I prepare and preach these sermons.
Immediately following our worship service this Sunday, Terry Hurt and our worship/media team will have a time of training for those interested in serving in the Media Ministry. It takes a small army of volunteers to do what they do every Sunday. This media ministry is vital to our church as we present the Gospel to many here in our worship center, on the Internet, and through TV. Some of the areas that are under the rubric of media ministry include: cameras, lighting, sound, words on the screens, videos, engineering, broadcast audio, program direction, technical direction, house sound, and webcast live-stream. We need more help in this vital ministry, so if you have an interest or sense God calling you to serve, please come get trained on Sunday. A light lunch will be served.
Many of our people are beginning to travel during the summer and I pray God blesses you and keeps you safe. Please remember to support our church with your tithes and offerings even when you may be absent on a Sunday. You can mail in your offering or go online to contribute electronically. Thank you to all you who faithfully give of your time and resources to make GHBC the great, growing, radiant, and vibrant church that God is allowing us to be. I love you, church family, and am honored to serve as your pastor.
