Thanks for your prayers for me this past week as I had a pretty bad spill on my bike while riding Sunday after church. Some good Samaritans stopped and picked us up and took me to the ER. Tests showed no broken bones and for that I am so very grateful. It has been a tough week of slow recovery, but it is all good! Besides some sore ribs and nasty road rash on my hand, all is well. Also, continue to pray for Terry Hurt as he heals from his neck surgery. He is very grateful for your prayers.
Daniel VanCleave and the recent high school graduates are having a blast in Destin, Florida. I was able to FaceTime with them on Thursday and it was good to see them having a blessed time together. Pray for them as they make their way back to Austin on Saturday night.
Next week is VBS! It is going to be an action-packed week. Both Sharon and Teresa have asked me to please make an appeal to you, the church, for help. Sharon needs to start two more classes and so needs more teachers. Teresa wrote the following:
I am still in need of five more preschool teachers. Also, we need 30 volunteers for family night to help with the 10 inflatables/trains/water stations and we have about 10 already signed up. Also, if our church members are not able to serve during VBS they can help provide refreshments/snacks for our VBS teacher break room. They can bring the snacks to the check-in station or to the Holy Grounds coffee shop upstairs on the 2nd floor of the C building. We have over 600 children pre-registered!!!
Both Sharon and Teresa will be in the Ministry Mall after the worship service on Sunday. If you would like to volunteer to help, please let them know. Also, on Sunday I will pray over all our staff and volunteers who will be serving during VBS. Thank you Sharon Irwin, Teresa Smith, Denise Gonzales, and Teal Neighbors for all your hard work!
On Sunday I will share a message from Nehemiah 7:1-5 entitled “Finishing Strong.” Invite someone to come with you to hear this message of encouragement for God’s people to finish strongly. I will elaborate upon these two truths: God has a place for everyone in His work, and sometimes God gives His greatest assignments when times are the hardest. Pray for our Connect Group classes and for our corporate time of worship, that God would be praised, His Word studied, and people would come to know Jesus.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, June 25, and be sure to be present at GHBC. On this day, my good friend, Admiral Endel Lee, will share a message with us, and his wife, Kathy Lee, will sing before he preaches. Endel is a highly respected man of God both in Washington, D.C. and throughout our nation. In addition, our worship ministry will have a special patriotic presentation. It is going to be a blessed day.
Have a good weekend.
