This Week @ Great Hills

March 28, 2014

Our Lord moved in the service last Sunday, and what a great day we had.  People were saved, others came forward to be baptized, some united with our church, and others surrendered to a calling God has on their lives.  It was a wonderful time with the Lord.  God is working at GHBC.  He is changing lives and creating a radiant church that is passionate for worshipping Jesus, studying His Word, and reaching the lost with the good news of the gospel.

This Sunday we will continue our study in Revelation and finish the message entitled “The Persecuted Church” (Revelation 2:8-11).  Only the churches at Smyrna and Philadelphia did not receive a word of rebuke from Christ.  We have looked at the words of identification and commendation, and on Sunday we will study Jesus’ words of command and promise.  Also this Sunday morning we will watch a powerful brief video on Nik and Ruth Ripken who will be with us May 3-4.

God has blessed the church with gifted men who are a true source of encouragement.  One of these men is Dr. Charles Lowery.  I am looking forward to having him come share God’s Word with us on Sunday, April 6.  He will speak in the morning and then again at 6:00pm.  His morning message is entitled “Success with Stress,” and the evening message is “Raising Champions in a Changing Culture.”  He is insightful and very funny; you will be blessed.  I look forward to him being with us.

In a couple of weeks GHBC will receive 40,000 business cards with our church information on one side and on the back.  These cards will be a great way to reach out to people you meet and invite them to our church.  The card will also guide them to an excellent website that helps provide video answers to many questions related to faith that people have today.

Easter Resurrection Sunday is only a few weeks away.  On April 18, we will have a Good Friday service and on Sunday, April 20, we will celebrate the greatest miracle of all—the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the grave!  GHBC is sending out a nice brochure to all our neighbors in the 78759 zip code inviting them to join us on this special day.  I will preach a message entitled “How to Live a Blessed Life.”   I have never preached this message publicly, but have shared it many times privately with my children.  I am very much looking forward to sharing it with our church family and all the guests God will bring us.

Have a blessed weekend.  See you Sunday.
