This week I was interviewed by a writer who has been covering the progression of House Bill 2 which originated in Texas and was heard by the Supreme Court in Washington DC on Wednesday. The reporter is a Christian and she expressed concern that this pro-life legislation may not be approved by the SCOTUS.  She then asked me an interesting question—do I have any words of hope to offer?  And I told her yes indeed.  I quoted Romans 15:13 which states, “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  I also shared with her that barring a spiritual awakening, our nation is headed for some very hard days, but as followers of Jesus we need not fear because we know how things turn out—we win!  I am reminded of the hymn that states, “Because He lives I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fear is gone, because I know who holds the future and life is worth the living just because He lives.”  I pray that God would send revival and our country would elect a president who knows and loves God.   Should God say no to these requests I will keep trusting in Him and serving Him, knowing that our confidence and hope remain in Him.

Our staff had a wonderful time in east Texas at Andy and Kathy Spencer’s beautiful ranch.  We went to Las Colinas and attended the Empower Evangelism Conference of the SBTC on Monday. We then spent all day Tuesday at the ranch and came back to church on Wednesday.  We had a blast!  We rode 4-wheelers, shot guns, laughed, ate good food, and just had a really good time.  I discovered that I could hit a target 400 yards away with a rifle, but could not for the life of me hit one of those flying skeets with a 20-gauge shotgun!  Seriously, God has truly blessed GHBC with a wonderful pastoral and administrative staff.  These men and women work incredibly hard and I appreciate their ceaseless efforts to help our church be a radiant, unified church that makes a difference in this world for Christ.

On Sunday we will continue our series of messages entitled HELP!  We will look at the topic of marriage and be blessed to hear from many GHBC couples who will offer us words of wisdom and practical application.  Pray for Sunday and for our Student Pastor, Daniel VanCleave, as he leads us on Sunday.

I want to thank our deacons again for their kind and generous gift of the Trek race bike.  I was totally shocked and incredibly blessed to have received my first race bike.  I look forward to getting it adjusted and fitted, and, hopefully soon, to taking it out on the road and riding.

God continues to bless our church. What a blessing it is to see many lives changed by the power of God.  Thank you, church family, for your continued faithfulness in serving and giving.  The first two months we have fallen way behind in giving to budget, so let me ask that you please give faithfully so we can continue on in ministry serving God and reaching many with the good news of our Savior.

See you Sunday.
