This Week @ Great Hills

May 12, 2017

On Sunday we will have a great day in the Lord.  We will dedicate six babies; three of them are triplets!  I will preach a message for all our moms and ladies from Genesis 16 entitled “God Sees.”  Just as God saw Hagar in her distress and blessed her, God desires to bless you and meet you at your point of pain and need.  Take a moment this weekend to read Genesis 16:7-13.  Before and after Sunday’s service we will have professional photographers taking family pictures at no cost, so be sure to take advantage of this gift to you and your family.  Also, immediately after the service all ladies will receive a rose as a way for our church to say we love and appreciate you.

The following Sunday, May 28, will be our graduation recognition Sunday.  Our Student Pastor, Daniel VanCleave, has planned a very special service for our graduating seniors.  I appreciate Daniel and his wife, Cherie, and their ministry at GHBC.  I listened to him preach the gospel to our students Wednesday night as he shared truth from Luke 22.  I am so grateful to God for the men and women on our staff.  Each of our pastoral staff is committed to Christ and making disciples.

Vacation Bible School is coming!   We will have hundreds of children on our campus June 12-16. Sharon Irwin, our Children’s Director, said she needs more volunteers to accommodate all the kids that are coming.  We still need about 15 assistant teachers.  If you are a member of our church and want to help, please contact Sharon or our Preschool Director, Teresa Smith.

Thank you, church family, for your faithfulness to God and your church.  Walking around our campus on Wednesday night I saw so many of our people engaged in serving and using their spiritual gifts in service to Jesus and His Church.  We are, however, off to a slow start with our giving, so allow me to ask that you faithfully give to our church budget, missions, and Building Vision.  This last category, BV, is our fund-raising endeavor to repair and replace many items on our physical campus.  Our goal is one million dollars. We have around fifty thousand, so we have a ways to go!  My primary concern is our HVAC system, especially some of the chillers that cool our buildings.  With a campus the size we have, it is very expensive to maintain and keep functioning.

Let me admonish you, as I did Sunday, to love your church and stay with your church.  God has given us a great church with a wonderful commission to reach the world for Christ.  I am honored to be on this journey with you. My family and I love you.

See you Sunday,
