It’s been a quiet Memorial Day at the Hurt house. Debbie pulled a muscle in her lower back Friday night after a drive home from Dallas so she’s been taking it easy for the past couple of days. Outside of a mowing the yard and a quick trip to the Apple Store with Katie, I’ve been laying low with DJ.
But it has given me time to consider the significance of the day in which we are celebrating today. I am very grateful to the men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to secure the freedom and liberties that we enjoy everyday and all too often sadly take for granted. It’s easy to get busy in our lives and schedules and go days without being thankful for those who have made it possible as well as those who continue to make it possible. How blessed we are!
John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” ESV
I am humbled at the thought of those who have put themselves in harms way on my/our behalf…people they don’t know. Thank you to everyone who has served and those who are serving us through our military and our great country.
And I would be remiss without remembering the sacrifice of all sacrifices. Thank you Jesus for going to the cross and paying the sin debt that I could never pay. I am blessed, grateful and free!
