It is the most wonderful and, might I add, busy time of the year! I enjoy the cooler temperatures as my heart turns toward Thanksgiving and Christmas. We have so much happening in our church and I am grateful to God for how He continues to bless us and make us a blessing to our city and literally the nations of the world. Thank you, GHBC, for being a Matthew 5:16 church– “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
We will have a special time of worship as we observe the Lord’s Supper on Sunday. Our text is 2 Corinthians 8:9, and the title of my message is “Come to the Table.” Take some time over the weekend to pray, and invite someone to join you for Connect Group and corporate worship.
I know you are heartbroken over the events that happened last Sunday morning at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs. Please pray for Pastor Frank and Sheri Pomeroy and their church. Immediately after worship on Sunday, I will take us back through some training we did three years ago regarding our physical safety and security.
We will receive our annual Harvest Offering on Sunday, November 19. I am asking all our members to pray and make a generous offering above your normal tithes and offerings to help us catch up on budget expenses. As stated last Sunday, our church is a very giving and generous congregation. We minister to our own people and city as well as touch people all over the world. Please join Ashley and me and make a sacrificial offering. Let us all help GHBC catch up! Thank you.
On Sunday, December 10, right after worship, Ashley and I will meet with those interested in going to Israel May 14-23, 2018. We will meet at the front of the worship center near the altar. I will share an overview of the trip and answer questions you may have.
There are so many exciting events coming up that there is not enough room for me to mention them all. That is a good problem to have. We have our normal activities like Angle Tree and Operation Christmas Child, and we have some newer traditions like the Spirit of Christmas Trail of Lights on December 5. Our MOPS ministry will host a Christmas Bazaar shopping event with over 60 vendors from 9:00 to 11:30am in the Great Hall on Wednesday, December 6.
May God bless you with a wonderful weekend. I am looking forward to observing the Lord’s Supper with you on Sunday. It will be a special day!
