Happy Thanksgiving to you! We have so very much to be thankful for and to give God praise for. Ashley and I wish you a blessed time with your family and loved ones.
God continues to pour out His favor and blessings upon our church family and for that I am especially grateful. Thank you for your love for God and your church. We had a great Harvest Offering last week and with a solid end-of-year giving we should be able to meet our expenses for the year. At this time of the year we are sometimes behind, but each year our people come through and give generously which enables us to finish the year strongly. Also, related to our church finances, we are very close to completing our goal of raising $1.2 million for Phase 1 of Building Vision. We are only $37,775 away from reaching our goal! The remodels and upgrades look fantastic. We continue to hear wonderful reports regarding the quality of our new audio and visual equipment in the worship center, the aesthetics and functionality of the new coffee shop, and the flooring which looks so nice. Again, I thank you for your generosity. When we finish Phase 1 we will move into Phase 2 of Building Vision which will include much work that needs to be done on our HVAC system in addition to other improvements.
On Sunday we will continue our CROSSFIT sermon series by studying the “I” in CROSSFIT, which stands for Invest. Our text is 2 Timothy 2:1-7 and the title of the message is “Investing in Others.” In order for us to obey Jesus’ Great Commission to makes disciples of all the nations, it is imperative for us to teach new believers all things that He commanded us (Matthew 28:19). Pray for me, please, as I share this important sermon with our church. One of our core values as a radiant church is to shine inwardly for our Lord by teaching His Word.
Let me give a hearty thank-you to Fred Erickson and all the volunteers who helped him break all our previous records with Operation Christmas Child. We collected over 6,000 shoe boxes for children all over the world through Samaritan’s Purse. What a great accomplishment, Fred! And our Angel Tree ministry is off to a wonderful start as well. Thank you, Aileen Yager and Carla Jones, and all the other volunteers helping in this ministry to provide a Christmas gift to the children of inmates.
I believe we are most like Jesus when we give. God loved us so much that He gave His very best—His only begotten Son according to John 3:16. I pray even now that God continues to empower GHBC to be a Radiant Church that gives and helps people all over the world.
I love you, church, and am blessed to serve you as your pastor.
