Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! We have so very much to be thankful for. Thank you, church family, for your love and prayers on my family’s behalf during these difficult days of my mother’s passing. We were blessed that all five of us were able to travel to Alabama and attend the funeral service on Saturday. It is always painful when a loved one dies, but I am so grateful to God that I will see her again.
Tuesday of last week I attended our Radiant Friends Thanksgiving celebration. Radiant Friends is an Alzheimer’s ministry sponsored by GHBC and staffed with wonderful volunteers from our church. As Dan Evans played a song about heaven on his trumpet, my mind wandered off and I thought about my mom and how she would one day be in her right mind and see all of her loved ones who had preceded her in death and gone to heaven. It was an emotional and yet heart-warming few moments. Two hours later I got the call that my mom had died. Thank you again for your prayers and support for us during this time.
I am grateful to God for our church and all that God is doing. Thank you, Ross Hartsfield, for preaching for me on Sunday and sharing with the church some of the amazing things that God is doing in and through GHBC.
We are still receiving monies from our 2014 Harvest Day and I cannot tell you how grateful to God I am for your generous giving. As I shared with you yesterday in the Harvest Offering Update e-mail, I am simply overwhelmed with joy at God’s grace and your generosity.
On Sunday we will resume our study in the great book of Revelation. We will study Revelation 9:1-12. Please read over this text this weekend and come to church if you are in the Austin area. We will have many people out this weekend, but I am really looking forward to being here and preaching the Word of God.
Blessings to you and yours during this Thanksgiving holiday season. And remember to bring your change on Sunday for our Change-Your-World Offering for local benevolence needs.
