This Week @ Great Hills

November 8, 2013

God continues to bless Great Hills Baptist Church in numerous ways.  Our Fall Festival last week was outstanding.  We had people literally from all over the world come and they all had a blast.  Thank you to the many who came out and helped.  We had numerous guests and it was such a success in every way!  And Sunday, wow, what a blessing to have Ken Ham speak.  God used him in powerful ways as he spoke on the relevancy and veracity of the book of Genesis.  His message on answering the questions skeptics ask was most informative and helpful.  The love offering that we received for Answers in Genesis was very generous–$8500!  Thank you for blessing Ken Ham’s ministry.

This coming Lord’s Day we will observe Veterans Day.  We have a fantastic service planned.  Lt. General Bruce Wright will share with us and then I will give a message from Micah 6:8.  Please invite every veteran you know to attend this worship service.  If they are not in the Austin area, let them know that they can view the service live online at our church website.

The following Sunday, November 17, we will receive our annual Harvest Sunday Offering.  I ask that you pray and ask God what He would have you give in addition to your tithes and offerings.  This Harvest Sunday Offering is above our regular tithes and offerings, and our goal is to catch up on our budget expenses as we are overspent by $204,000.  We also will observe the Lord’s Supper that Sunday.  That evening we will have a deacon ordination service at 6:00pm.  We will have a great day in the Lord!

Many of our church family are participating in the My Hope America with Billy Graham evangelism initiative.  Let us pray for one another as we invite our friends and neighbors to our homes to share the gospel with them by watching the outstanding 30-minute video entitled Defining Moments.  May God work powerfully and bring many into His kingdom!

We continue to hear of the great need in south Austin due to the devastating floods a few days ago.  I know it is last moment, but we are inviting GHBC members to come help with the clean-up on Saturday, November 9.  We will meet at 9:00am at Crossroads Christian House of Prayer, located at 5201 E. William Cannon Drive.  GHBC has made a financial contribution to the Austin Disaster Relief Network, and I am inviting as many who can to come lend a helping hand to our neighbors in south Austin.

Have a blessed weekend.
