Thank you for your prayers for our mission trip to India last week. God richly blessed and we are so grateful for all the prayers of our church family. I will share a little about the trip in my sermon on Sunday. I will give a more thorough report Wednesday, November 12 at 7:00pm in room A166 if you would like to hear more.
I love our church. GHBC is a multigenerational, multi-ethnic body of believers that worships Jesus daily. We go to church services on Sunday, but we are the church 24/7. (Upward in Worship) We also believe strongly in discipleship, and we seek to do as Paul stated in Colossians 1:28, “to present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.” (Inward in Discipleship) We are also passionate about missions and evangelism. Whether in Austin or India, our desire is to help fulfill the Great Commission and make disciples. (Outward in Missions and Evangelism)
The group FourTwelve will lead us in worship on Sunday. Visit their website for a preview of their music. We will also observe both of the ordinances of the church and that is baptism and the Lord’s Supper. I will share a message from Acts 2:41-47 entitled “Breaking of Bread.” Invite someone to join you for Bible Life and worship. Take some time this weekend to reflect on the passion of Jesus and how we are so blessed to be able to participate in the Lord’s Supper.
Next Sunday I am preaching a message to our church on the topic of stewardship and I am very excited about it. Some of you may be thinking, “Thanks for letting me know because I will be sure and miss that sermon!” Seriously, it will be an important word for our congregation as we prepare to receive our Harvest Day Offering on Sunday, November 23. This year’s Harvest Offering will be used to catch up on our expenses and also the Building Vision campaign. The goal over the next three years is to raise money for much needed repairs and remodels to our church campus. As we shared in the town hall meeting on October 12, we are not going to borrow any money to make these improvements. As we raise the money we will spend it on these projects. Please ask God what He would have you give toward this special offering on November 23.
Have a blessed weekend, and see you Sunday.
