“God is with us, always, always, He is with us.” I keep singing this new song by Love & the Outcome. What a blessed thought to know that God loves His people and He will never leave or forsake us. Our God is with us! I hope you are encouraged today by knowing how much God loves you, is for you, and has only the best in store for you. This week I had the privilege of attending a two-day pastors prayer meeting in Southlake, Texas, with about 170 other pastors from across the country. We enjoyed sweet fellowship, praise and worship, and we spent much time on our knees in prayer for God to move mightily upon our churches and our nation. These are difficult and perilous days in many ways, but God is with us, and He never leaves us!
There are so many exciting things happening in and though our church. Last Sunday we had 21 people join our church family. What is neat is that all of them attended our new member class and after hearing who we are and what our vision is as a radiant church, they decided to link their lives with ours. We will be presenting these new members over the next several weeks. Take some time to welcome them to our church.
On Sunday we will continue with our study entitled Explore God. The question we will address is “Is Jesus Really God?” We will worship the Lord and I will share a message from John 8:48-59 that answers this question with a resounding affirmation—Yes, Jesus is God and we love and worship Him! Also, on Sunday mornings during our Explore God emphasis, Kyle Miller is leading a discussion group at 9:30 in the Great Hall. If you do not have a Bible Life class or know someone who would be interested in walking through these questions posed by the Explore God emphasis, please attend this class and invite someone to come with you.
Sunday night at 7:00pm we are having Newsboys in concert. They are a fantastic contemporary Christian band. There are still tickets available if you are interested in attending. You may go to our website to purchase tickets.
We still have many families who have not signed up to take their picture for our pictorial directory. Please sign up, as this is such a helpful tool!
There are a couple more important items I want to share with you. First, immediately after our morning worship this Sunday we will have a farewell fellowship for Chad Hampton and his sweet family. Please plan to come, and also consider giving him a gift card to show your love and appreciation for him and his seven years of ministering to our students. We will miss Chad and his outstanding ministry, and we pray that God uses him powerfully as He has used him here at GHBC. We are searching for our next student pastor as we also search for a young adult pastor. Please keep us in prayer as we seek to find those men God has for us. And second, let me encourage you to mark your calendars for Sunday, November 3, when Ken Ham will speak to us both morning and evening on the important doctrine of creation. Ken is probably the most sought-after speaker today on the doctrine of creation. He does an outstanding job refuting evolution.
Have a blessed weekend. See you Sunday with a word from the Word of God.
