This Week @ Great Hills

September 11, 2015

God is working in and through GHBC.  I am grateful for how He is growing us and using us to literally touch the world with the saving message of Jesus Christ.  We continue to have Great Hills teams going out on mission.  Our South Asia team had a wonderful time serving among our people group.  Thank you again for the prayers and encouragement as we continue to make much progress in reaching them with the gospel of Jesus.

On Sunday I get the high honor and privilege of preaching on the Second Return of Jesus as described in Revelation 19:11-21; what an amazing, riveting passage of Scripture.  Take some time to read about the triumphant return of Christ before Sunday.  Also on Sunday, you will notice a slight change in our worship format.  We will begin the service with a brief video welcome and announcements by Pastor Stu and then proceed right into worship.  Our stand-and-greet-the-guests time will happen immediately after the Invitation.  As you exit the worship center please take a moment to reach out to those you do not recognize. Introduce yourself and let the guests know how glad you are that they came to Great Hills. Author Win Arn said the most important time for a guest in your church is immediately after the worship service.  I am so proud of our people at this point.  I continue to hear how very friendly you are to the many guests God brings us each Sunday.  Keep up the good work!

Our church will join hundreds of other churches in central Texas and participate in The Art of Neighboring.  Beginning on Sunday, September 20, we will focus on the theme Love Where You Live.  Pastors Stu and Daniel will assist me in the preaching. We are excited about teaching from God’s Word on the importance of being a good neighbor.  Your Connect Group will also be focusing on the same topic of neighboring beginning this Sunday.

Our Building Vision 5 in 5 is off to a great start.  Thank you for your offerings and commitments in this concerted effort to help get our church out of debt and to make some improvements to our church campus.  It is an auspicious goal, but with everyone sacrificially giving we can accomplish it.  And on the topic of giving—I will soon be sending an e-mail to our church membership in which I will share more details.  Please be on the lookout for this communication from my heart to yours.

Finally, on September 16 we will begin our new Wednesday night schedule which will run from 6:00 to 7:30pm.  We will offer something for everyone.  Something new for the men is a Bible study that will kick off Wednesday with a BBQ in the Great Hall.

Have a blessed weekend and see you Sunday as we focus on our Lord’s Second Coming!
