This Week @ Great Hills

September 16, 2016

We had a great meeting yesterday with pastors from central Texas regarding the 2016 SBTC Annual Bible Conference and Meeting.  Our church is hosting this event November 13-15.  We are trusting God to use our church to be a tremendous blessing to all who come and praying that the Holy Spirit moves powerfully.  Our planning team met Wednesday night and they, too, are excited about all that God will do.  Please help us by praying and volunteering to serve during these three days when friends from all over our great state will come here to our city and church.  The theme for both the Bible Conference and Annual Meeting is the Holy Spirit!
Thank you for praying for me the last few days as I preached eight times in Jasper, Texas. God blessed us with a wonderful revival meeting.  Thanks to Stu for preaching the Word at Great Hills on Sunday.  As we continue our study of Joseph this Sunday, I look forward to sharing a message with you entitled “Leading with Integrity” from Genesis 46:31-47:26. We are almost finished with this study on Joseph: a Portrait of Grace and Forgiveness. God has preserved this amazing story so we can learn how to better display grace and forgiveness and to trust the sovereign power of God in all circumstances.
There are a couple of important dates I ask you to pray with me about.
  • Thursday, September 22 – Starting at 6:30am we will begin a men’s morning discipleship time.  I will briefly teach on the book of Proverbs and then we will break up into small discipleship groups and put into practice Proverbs 17:17, “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
  • Sunday, October 2 – At 6:00pm we will meet in the worship center for a town hall meeting which will allow me to share some important items related to GHBC.  I hope this will be a helpful and informative time of communicating.
I am grateful for and love GHBC.  Thank you for your support and prayers for Ashley and me as we serve you for such a time as this.  Across our nation many pastors are falling and experiencing burnout; God has given me a burden to help lighten their load and be an encouragement to them.  Thank you for being a blessing to me so I am able, by God’s grace, to bless and encourage pastors and their families.
Finally, allow me to bring to your attention that we have overspent our giving by $258,136.  I ask that you help by giving your tithes and offerings to help bridge this gap. The month of August was extremely difficult and we are trying to catch up.  Thank you for your continued giving to Building Vision as we are closing in on our goal of $1.2 million.
May God bless you and grant you a wonderful weekend.
