This Week @ Great Hills

September 18, 2015

On Wednesday night Rich Carney with Austin Bridge Builders Alliance (ABBA) spoke to our men on the importance of work.  He shared that work was not a curse but a gift from God, and that we are to give our best at the job God gives us. He also reminded us to live for Christ, to share Christ as God gives us opportunities, and to influence others so they will come to know Jesus.  I encourage all GHBC men and women who work outside the home to leverage your influence for Christ and work in a way that pleases God, and, as Paul said, give your best.  Colossians 3:23: “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.”

I love our church and I’m grateful for all that God is doing in and through Great Hills.  On Wednesday night we had a great turnout of people of all ages.  There was something for everyone. I want to thank all our leaders who stepped up and served with such excellence and passion.

What are your plans for the weekend?  Let me encourage you to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and look for those opportunities to encourage someone, to invite someone to church, and to have gospel conversations with people.  I’m looking forward to my weekend.  On Friday I get the privilege of praying over a new home that one of our Great Hills families is moving into.  They have dedicated their home to Jesus and asked that I come while it is still under construction and pray over it.  On Saturday I am performing a wedding at Great Hills in the Great Hall, and then on Sunday I get the privilege and high responsibility to preach God’s Word!  Oh, and there will be some football watching somewhere in the weekend, I am sure!

Speaking of Sunday, we will venture away from Revelation for a few weeks and focus on the Art of Neighboring. GHBC will join numerous churches in Austin and central Texas and focus on the theme, “Love Where You Live.”  My text for Sunday is the Parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10:25-37, where Jesus tells us who our neighbor is and how we are to treat our neighbors.  Pray for our time of corporate worship and invite your neighbor to be your guest in your Connect Group and worship.

Enjoy your weekend.  Be a good neighbor.  Invite someone to GHBC.  Tell and show someone the love of Jesus.
