This Week @ Great Hills

September 26, 2013

I am sending the newsletter a day early to share some important news with you—news that our Student Pastor, Chad Hampton, shared with the students last night at Elevate.  Chad is leaving GHBC to purse God’s call on his life to serve in another church and state.  I am happy for Chad because he is being obedient and following God’s call on his life, but, yes, I am sad because I/we hate to see him leave.  Chad has served in the student ministry at Great Hills for seven and a half years and has done an outstanding job.  When he shared the news of his leaving to our lead team of pastors we all started praying against it!  However, we fully support Chad as he becomes the new student pastor of Geyer Springs Baptist Church in Little Rock, Arkansas.  The church asked Chad to come and do precisely what he has done at Great Hills—build a strong, dynamic student ministry that focuses on making disciples that make disciples.  Chad will officially make his announcement this Sunday.  We will have a reception in his honor on October 6 immediately following the morning worship service.  Please join us for this time of encouraging Chad, Britney, Cooper, and Cowen as they embark on this new journey with Jesus.

As we search for a new student pastor, please pray for our staff and personnel committee as we seek those that God is calling to come serve our church.  Bringing new staff to join our present team is such an important task.  I invite you to join me in prayer and, at times, fasting for us as we seek God’s servants to come give us leadership.

On Sunday we will continue our Explore God emphasis as we look at Colossians 4:2-6 in a message entitled “Is Christianity too Narrow?”  I am looking forward to sharing this message with our church family.  Since the majority of people who come on Sunday believe Jesus is the only way to God, I want to address how should we live and speak among those who disagree with us.  Please come a few minutes early to pray and fellowship as we enter into the Lord’s presence as a radiant church.  Also on Sunday we will have church@greathills, our new member class.   If you know anyone interested in becoming a part of our church family, invite them to attend.  We will meet from 12:30 to 2:00 pm in the Great Hall.

The Promise of Hope Ladies Retreat begins Friday night and it will be fantastic.  There is still time to sign up.  We have many exciting ministries and events coming up at Great Hills.  Please see the announcements below, and, as always, take a look at our website to keep up with all that is happening.

Have a blessed Thursday and see you Sunday.
