This Week @ Great Hills

September 29, 2017

Happy Friday! I trust you have had a wonderfully blessed week.

Pastor Danny has been out of town this week on a mission trip, so I am pinch hitting for him and writing the newsletter article today. He; Ashley; our Missions Director, Becky Dean; and a small team from Great Hills have been serving Keihe Baptist Chapel on the Hawaiian Island of Maui. It is such a dark spiritual place to be such a beautiful island. They have been doing some painting and “fixing up” on some of the church buildings, but have also had opportunities for leadership training with the leaders of the church. Please pray for their return as they finish up the trip.

We are excited about the one-day mission emphasis “Love Port Arthur” (#PASTRONG) tomorrow. As of this writing, there are over 800 people from local churches committed to make the day-long trip to serve the people of this small devastated community. Debbie and I will be joined by several from our church. There is still time to register! Go to for information or to register.

You may have noticed the steeple in the Ministry Mall between the worship center and the Great Hall. This steeple was recently used as part of the “Cleansing the Temple” emphasis where we continually prayed and read scripture for 144 hours. The steeple has prayers written on it from everyone who participated. We were so moved by the hearts of God’s people that we wanted to give you the opportunity to stop by and read the prayers and encouragements left by Great Hills folks. It was an awesome time for our church and God blessed tremendously.

I am looking forward to hearing Daniel preach the second message in the “Blessed Life” sermon series on Sunday. He will be preaching “Blessed Family” from Psalm 1. You will not want to miss this encouraging word concerning your family!

Live missional, church family! Always be looking for opportunities to turn conversations to the things of the Lord. Invite your neighbors, friends and work associates to join you for worship Sunday. Take them to lunch and invest in relationships that God can bless through your godly influence. You never know…that person might be the next new member of your church at Great Hills!
