Sunday is September 11 and is the 15th anniversary of 9-11, a day that all Americans will remember. Three thousand people died in the horrific terrorist attack on our soil. Recently I was in New York City and passed by a fire station that displayed a list of the brave men from that station who had perished on that infamous day. Our nation mourns the loss of those who lost their lives, but as followers of Christ we have hope in the midst of the most tragic and horrible events that Satan throws at us. I invite you to come to church on Sunday as Stuart Smithson shares a message entitled “Do You Remember?” based on Judges 21:25.
There are so many important and powerful things happening in and through our radiant church. It is hard, if not impossible, to communicate in such a way that allows everyone to be completely informed as to what is transpiring. So I am inviting everyone to a special time of sharing and communicating information about a number of important items on Sunday evening, October 2, at 6:00 in the worship center.
We have many ministries happening, and it is exciting to see how our church is reaching all ages and people from all over the world. Our women’s and men’s ministries are off to a great start. Guys, let me invite you to come to the Atrium at 6:30am on Thursday mornings beginning September 22. Each week I will share a brief message from the book of Proverbs. Following that, we will get in small groups to discuss the biblical text, encourage each other, and walk through the Five Ws of accountability. This group will meet through May 2017.
I ask that you pray for me as I will preach eight times next week in Jasper, Texas. I am grateful to God for invitations to preach, but I always miss being at Great Hills and worshiping with my church family.
Have a blessed weekend.
