“Bad weather here for the next hour. Already had a tornado touchdown a couple of counties over. We are prepared. I highly doubt anything will hit my area.” That was the text said from my daughter in Fort Worth at 8:30 pm on Wednesday night.
I immediately prayed, “Lord, protect her.” The only other thing I could do was call her and make sure that she was taking every precaution. The storm brought lots of wind and heavy rain. No tornado. All was well.
At any moment in life, things can change in an instant. Sometimes all is well. Sometimes it is terrible. But no matter what the outcome, God can be trusted. Jesus says, “I will show you what he is like who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.” (Luke 6:47-48)
Lord Jesus, help me continue to dig down deep and lay my foundation on you, the solid rock.
